CITA was started in 2003 by John Sadler and Peter Hill. Officially launched in September that year, by the then Minister for Industrial Affairs, Stephen Timms. Since then CITA has evolved into an organisation aiming to meet the IT needs of the voluntary and SME sectors in the North East region. Our mission is to "Help people with IT" CITA is both a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. CITA started by training long term unemployed to become IT technicians and enjoyed considerable success operating the Intermediate Labour Market for the training. This success allowed almost 90% of the trainees to attain an internationally recognised IT qualification (CompTIA A+). As a result of identified needs within the voluntary sector for low price PC systems and cost effective support CITA began to develop other IT related services. The training of ILMs ceased in April 2006. CITA continues to expand its range of expertise and services and can offer technical support, website design, IT training, mentoring, strategy development, policy advice, funding advice, assisted purchasing, consultancy, Open Source and Circuit Riding services. Look at our past projects section to see details of projects undertaken with the voluntary sector. |
